A 13-year-old boy was shot in the face and lost his right eye after throwing a rock at a home on Quincy Street. The homeowner, who fired his 20-gauge shotgun at the then 12-year-old boy and his friends, called police to report the shooting and that he believed the boy was attempting to burglarize his home. A 12-year-old boy is recovering at ECMC after being shot near the corner of Broadway and Quincy. Police say the boy was shot just before noon on Thursday, November 16 after attempting to break into a home on that block. In early November, Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) suffered extreme injuries in an altercation with a neighbor. Senator Paul was allegedly assaulted by his next door neighbor and the incident left the Senator with bruised lungs and several broken ribs. Sam Hoyt, former regional president for Empire State Development, stepped down from his position on Monday, October 30. It was revealed on October 31 that Hoyt, who had served as the regional president and public face of ESD for six years, left his job in the midst of a sexual harassment investigation.
